Vocalist Keith Buckley was inspited to write “C++” the first night he spent in the ICU with his wife and newborn baby. He received the phone call while on tour that his wife was experiencing life-threatening complication and he immediately flew home to Buffalo, NY.

When I got there they took me to see [Lindsay], but she was unconscious and hooked up to a bunch of machines…None of the doctors knew what happened. All they could do was monitor her vitals. She couldn’t talk because of the tubes so she just wrote words with her fingers on my arm. ‘Scary’ was what she wrote first.

C++ is a computer programming language, which ties into the theme of Buckley pleading with the hospital machines to save his wife and daughter.
