The second single from her sophomore album Long Live the Angels, Garden is an “expression of freedom and passion”, written by Sandé herself, along with Christopher Crowhurst, Timothy Thedford, and Áine Zion.

Lyrically, the titular Garden can be interpreted as a reference to the Garden of Eden, the biblical Paradise or Garden of God. Alternatively, it can be interpreted as a reference to the ancient Greek philosopher Epicurus' “Pleasure Garden”, where one can live free from physical pain, living contentedly with simple things and passions.
