Angel Down

Lady Gaga

“Angel Down” explains Gaga’s feelings towards the world of today, as well as her spirituality.

Gaga was inspired by the tragic murder of African-American teenager Trayvon Martin in 2012. Trayvon, walking unarmed, was shot by George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch captain. The case was heavily publicized and instigated debates on racism, self-defense laws, and gun control. Unfortunately, Zimmerman was found not guilty.

Gaga confirmed her inspiration via Twitter:

Gaga has always talked openly about her connection to her religion. During the process of making Joanne, she showed her involvement with the Catholic Church on social media, posting the following picture with a priest from her family’s church on Instagram:

Thank you Father Duffell for a beautiful homily as always and lunch at my pop’s restaurant.

I was so moved today when you said.. “The Eucharist is not a prize for the perfect but the food that God gives us.” – Father Duffell, Blessed Sacrament Church Nourishment. .

The track, a mid-tempo ballad, is the final track on the standard edition of Gaga’s fourth solo album, Joanne, which was released on the 21st October 2016.
