“Aunt Leslie” is a funk-pop song driven by trombone from Vulfpeck’s The Beautiful Game that features frequent Vulfpeck collaborators Cory Wong and Antwaun Stanley along with new face Bethanni Grecynski.
The track’s lyrics are mysterious, with characters Aunt Leslie and Leone that fans have yet to find the origins of. The lyrics also have several allusions to photography and film, further muddying the song’s meaning.
In Jack Stratton’s November 1, 2017 Reddit AMA, he noted that the chorus could also work well with the math acronym PEMDAS (“Please excuse my dear Aunt Sally”).
