“Beat the Case/// Straight Crooked” serves as a two part collaboration between Ab-Soul and fellow TDE member ScHoolboy Q.

In the first half of the track, Soulo and Q exchange bars about their illicit activities and their ability to avoid proper punishment for their crimes. To “beat a case” means to avoid dealing with the full consequences for one’s actions and rather getting off with a less severe sentence.

The second half of the track is more introspective and philosophical, as he ponders the idea of being wrong or right. During the verse, he seems to believe that everybody is crooked and raps from the perspective that:

The righteous will remain righteous and the filthy will remain filthy
In a sense, we all guilty, yeah
