“Just Hold On” is an EDM tribute to Louis Tomlinson’s mother, who passed away on 7 December 2016 from leukemia, just three days before the song’s release. This song was performed live on The X-Factor’s December 10 finale, as per the request of his mother. Harry Styles attended to support him. Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik also tweeted that night to support him and his family.

The release of “Just Hold On” marks the first solo venture for Louis Tomlinson following One Direction’s hiatus in early 2016. He is the third member of 1D to release solo music, behind ZAYN’s March 2016 album Mind of Mine and Niall Horan’s September 2016 single “This Town.” The song has been certified Gold in the US and in the UK.

The music video for the song was released on March 8, 2017.
