De-Loused in the Comatorium is a short story written by The Mars Volta frontman Cedric Bixler-Zavala and his friend, sound engineer Jeremy Michael Ward.
The story chronicles the overdose induced journey of a man named Cerpin Taxt, who is heavily based on one of Cedric and Jeremy’s friends: artist Julio Venegas. Venegas, a known heroin user, leapt to his death in 1996 from an overpass during rush hour traffic. Taxt and Venegas share this fate with the former being a journey into the multiple possibilities of what Venegas could have been experiencing prior to his death.
