Based on Common’s “I Used To Love H.E.R.”, the girl that Oddisee raps about is in fact hip-hop itself. Throughout the track Oddisee reveals how his relationship with the genre has evolved, from his perception of others who flirt with the game in the first verse, to commenting on the messages that are expressed through rap music in the second. Oddisee thanks his lover in the final verse for providing the platform for his career and message.
