Patrick wrote this beautiful guitar part and looped it. When I heard it, I recalled song lyrics I had written months earlier called ‘why can’t I cry.’ I knew the softness of Patrick’s guitar part gave more depth to what I had written and made the whole thing less somber. Those old timey backing vocals are my favorite thing on the record.
