“Shout” was released as a single in 1984 and is the first song on Tears for Fears' second album, Songs from the Big Chair. It was no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 3 weeks in August 1985 and remains one of their most recognizable (and excessively sampled) songs.

This song was also covered by Disturbed for their album “The Sickness”, titled as “Shout 2000”.

The song is often mislabeled as an emo song when the message is more a call to action than an expression of pain.
