Common Sense

Common Sense

J Hus

“Common Sense”, the title track and third single from East London singer/rapper J Hus’s debut album, significantly departs from his usual afrobeat sound. The song, which was released a week before the album, features instruments such as organs, piano and slap bass guitar reminiscent of old school hip hop; this is a stark contrast from his 808-driven previous singles. The song closes with a trumpet solo performed by Rudimental’s Mark Crown.

Lyrically, the song primarily explores Hus' newfound lavish lifestyle, detailing his constant flow of income and flashy cars as well as addressing the ladies, haters and trappers in the verses.
