Liar

Liar

Queen

“Liar” was Queen’s second single, written by lead-singer Freddie Mercury (primarily written by Mercury, and allegedly the inception of his pronunciation that a song’s ultimate credit would be based on its originator or lyricist). As a single, Elektra Records relegated the 6:27 epic track to just over 3 minutes, which did not exclude the tribal sequence beginning with, “Listen, are you going to listen? Mama I’m gonna be your slave…” which provides a glimpse into the musical experimentation for which Queen would become famous.

All or most Queen shows prior to their 1977 tour for their album News of the World would feature this song, often as a 10-minute closing number showcasing an extended solo by bassist John Deacon.
