Hammer to Fall

Hammer to Fall

Queen

“Hammer to Fall” is a 1984 song by British rock band, Queen, and is the eighth track on the band’s eleventh album, The Works. It was the fourth and final single released from the album. It was released in the UK on September 10, 1984, and in the US on October 12, 1984.

A concert favorite, the song charted in Australia (#55), UK (#13), and South Africa (#3)

The song was performed by Queen at Live Aid in 1985 and was featured in The Works Tour and The Magic Tour.)

The meaning of the song was effectively settled when guitarist Brian May wrote on his website that “Hammer to Fall is really about life and death, and being aware of death as being part of life”, and that “the Hammer coming down is only a symbol of the Grim Reaper doing his job!”
