“Back2Life” features an uncredited lead vocal sample from Christina Grimmie of “The Voice” and YouTube fame. The track was released as a single 2 months after Grimmie’s murder but dates back to June 2015.

Following the reveal that the lead vocal was sung by a pitch-modified Christina Grimmie, Twitter user @grimmiex12 reached out to one of the song’s composers, Andrew Bolooki (@bolooki), via private message for further information. Bolooki clarified that the vocal sample “came from a different record I wrote [with] Christina the last time we worked together,” and further added that he was “glad someone discovered it, that is really cool.”

Bolooki tweeted back in June of 2015, “I hereby declare @TheRealGrimmie the official princess of vocal stackin & adlib trackin #back2life.” This is likely in reference to the record Bolooki mentioned in the private message, before the remix by No Way Back and Le Youth.

Feeling down? In need of a pick-me-up? Let No Way Back and Le Youth bring you ‘BACK2LIFE’! This beautifully crafted house tune is sure to breathe color into any gray sky.
Following a string of successful releases, up-and-comer No Way Back teams up with LA-based Le Youth to bring us ‘BACK2LIFE’. Featuring a very distinct deep groove and driving piano chords overlaid with a soulful and expertly chopped vocal, ‘BACK2LIFE’ shines through the noise and delivers the perfect energy lift for any set.

From Robin Murray via Clash Music:
No Way Back explains: “This track felt extremely organic to us. Le Youth and I have a great relationship I feel it translates into the music. The goal was to create a house tune that we could both relate to from our own experiences in the past. Hopefully, people can relate to it too!”
Le Youth adds: “Working on ‘Back2Life’ was therapeutic for me; I got to work with No Way Back, and we got to make a track specifically for the club. Those things are new for me and were both awesome experiences. I love that ‘You bring me back to life’ is a line that will mean something different for everyone, for me it’s lost love. Regardless, it’s a club track… turn it up.”
