Candy Perfume Girl

Candy Perfume Girl

Madonna

“Candy Perfume Girl” is the fourth track on Madonna’s album Ray of Light.

Starting with a grunge intro, the song has been criticized for being the only song that doesn’t fit lyrically with the main theme of the album and the rest of the tracks. Susannah Melvoin, the main writer of the song, stated in fact that she wrote it thinking about the allure of drug addiction after her brother died of a heroin overdose in 1996.
