“Altadena” is the closer track to Kelela’s debut album, Take Me Apart. It serves an anthem for inclusivity and affirmation to those who sit on the fringes of society and often go unappreciated, but nonetheless keep on keeping on. Kelela echoed this in an interview with The FADER:

I’m specifically thinking about black women who are just like on their grind and operating in spaces where they’re not appreciated and its just a message for those people so that they can feel like it’s worth pursuing and pushing."
