Jocelyn Flores was a friend of X who suffered from depression and committed suicide in May 2017, while staying with him in Florida for a photoshoot. He posted tweets about the situation, but they were later deleted. In an Instagram Live video, X detailed the events personally,

It was a devastating situation to deal with, it fucked me up so bad to where I wasn’t on social media for the last few days unless I was addressing something that I needed to. I never thought I would feel something for someone I barely knew that would fuck me up so bad just because I came from it

He previously dedicated the song “Revenge” to Jocelyn shortly after she died – he didn’t discuss her death on the track, although he wrote it in the song’s description on SoundCloud, “Rest in peace, Jocelyn, I will have my revenge upon the world.”

This song was performed over “im closing my eyes,” a potsu-produced song that samples the lyrics from Shiloh Dynasty’s “I Knew You So Well.” Two other tracks on 17 were also produced by potsu: “Everybody Dies In Their Nightmares” and “Carry On.”

On August 5, 2017, X uploaded a snippet of the song on his Snapchat story.
