“Daddy Issues,” is the fifth track from Tell Me You Love Me where Demi unveils the source of their attraction to “unavailable” men.

The term “Daddy Issues” refers the result of a messed up relationship with one’s father, or having an absent father in ones life. This results in younger women or men chasing older men and are even seeking a father figure from their relationships and mistreatment in some cases.

We are aware that Demi did not have a good connection with their biological father, Patrick Lovato, who died in 2013. Lovato has expressed their disconnection to her father from their previous songs, such as ‘For The Love of A Daughter (2011, Unbroken), ’Shouldn’t Come Back‘ (2013, Demi), ’Father‘ (2015, Confident).
