“Queen” is the first “official” single from the English singer-songwriter’s fourth studio album R.O.S.E.
The track follows three promotional singles: “Real Deal,” “Think About That,” and “Not My Ex.”

“Queen” is the first look into the S part of R.O.S.E., standing for SEX. A 2017 article by Official Charts quotes Jessie commenting on the S part and why she included “Queen” in that acronym specifically, saying:

I mean, if you look up sex in the dictionary, there are two meanings. There are definitely songs on this record about the physical form of penetrational sex, but in this instance, it’s about the sex of being a female as well as that. Women in the industry are sexualised and are definitely treated in a certain way because of what they and their bodies look like. [The S in R.O.S.E.] is also about that.

“Queen” serves as a body-empowering and feminist anthem. In the self-directed music video, Jessie incorporates a multitude of women of all shapes, races, and sexualities to portray the song’s message.
