Burn This Bridge

Enisa

“Burn This Bridge” is the debut single by Enisa released on September 15, 2016. It was written by Enisa, and produced by Julie Hardy and Michael MacAllister.

The music video was released on November 23. It depicts an emotional Enisa walking from Brooklyn, NY and across the Brooklyn Bridge and into Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan, NY. It symbolizes her leaving the familiarity of her hometown to pursue her passion, with the rail terminal representing the many possible journeys and destinations that her decision may take her. Grand Central Terminal is the second-busiest train station in the United States, and is famous for its Beaux-Arts architecture.

Enisa wrote the song earlier in the year in 2016, after she was rejected and belittled by someone in the music industry who she thought was going to help her.

I wrote “Burn This Bridge” because someone I hoped would help me, instead, told me I’d never make it. At first I was upset and let down, but I did not let it get to me. I used my anger and turned it into a song that represents self confidence and independence. The whole experience helped me realize that I don’t need to rely on anyone for anything but myself, because I have the power to achieve whatever my heart desires, as long as I believe in myself first. — Enisa. iHeartMedia, November 2016.

Not long after writing the song, Enisa also wrote “Tears Hit The Ground” which went on to be released on June 4, 2021 as the first single from her debut EP. Both songs have a similar theme of overcoming betrayal and abandonment, and persevering against the odds.
