‘Abscond’ paints a fantastical fairy-tale like scenario of a love locked away in a castle and the singer enticing them to abscond.

But like a number of other tracks on the album, this could also be a metaphor for young homosexual love: where the one in the castle is locked away from the relationship by parents that deny the homosexual relationship. Perhaps a dream of a scenario where the singer can rescue their love like in a fairy tale and live happily ever after.
