“Honey” is Kehlani’s second release since January 2017’s SweetSexySavage, the first being her G-Eazy collaboration “Good Life.” The song, written for her lover, sees Kehlani using romance as an escape.

Kehlani teased her new music on Instagram in early October 2017 and told fans to comment honey emojis if they wanted to hear a new track. She then posted the cover art and a SoundCloud link to the song. About four days later, “Honey” was available on all other streaming services as well.

She first performed the song live at Billboard’s Women in Music 2017. The official music video was released a few days later, on December 4th.
