“One Day” is Tate McRae’s debut single, posted to YouTube on October 20th, 2017. In the song, Tate speaks about unrequited love and the inner thoughts of a girl and a guy pining over each other.

It was initially recorded in Tate’s bedroom unprofessionally. Since then, the video has amassed over 25 million views on YouTube and compelled Tate to professionally record it and release it on streaming platforms. This new recording was released on December 28 of the same year.

Prior to the upload of this song, Tate would upload dance videos and vlogs, after placing runner up on So You Think You Can Dance, the Next Generation. The viewer response is what encouraged Tate to continue uploading her covers and original songs.
