“American Living” is the final track of the JCPenney version of Racal Flatt’s sixth album Unstoppable. The song was written and placed on the J.C. Penny version of the album to celebrate the spirit of the brand JCPenney of the same name, a life that anyone in America can live.

In the album booklet for the special edition, Rascal Flats wrote a note to fans:

…Thank you for buying this special CD with the Bonus Track, “American Living”. In their ongoing effort to inspire kids to be smart, strong, and socially responsible, JCPenney will donate $1 from the sale of this CD to the JCPenney Afterschool Fund.
