One of Atlanta, Georgia native Lil Baby’s breakout hits, “Freestyle” helped to introduce the rapper to audiences back in November 2017. The track’s lyrics address Baby’s rise to stardom as well as his usage of the recreational drug lean. In a May 2018 Breakfast Club interview, Lil Baby discussed his decision to eventually stop using lean:

That shit started fuckin' with me… like, breathe different, talk different, feel different, like, everything.

“Freestyle” was an early contributor towards Lil Baby’s successful career: the song’s music video, which was released on November 5, 2017, has accumulated over 300 million views. The track eventually appeared on Baby’s December 2017 mixtape Too Hard.
