Los Angeles is widely known by its nickname “The City of Angels”. In fact, its name literally means “The Angels” in Spanish.

In this song, Miguel, who was born and raised in LA, conjures up imagery of a fictional war in which Los Angeles is destroyed. However, when the bombs hit the city, Miguel wasn’t there, but was cheating on his woman in Venice Beach.

Miguel regrets not being there with his girl when the city fell, feeling as though he would rather be dead with her than alive but unable to see her again.
