Freaky Styley producer George Clinton considers the song to be one of his favorites on the album. When Clinton would visit early Red Hot Chili Peppers gigs, he would go on stage during performances of “Hollywood (Africa)” to join lead singer Anthony Kiedis in singing and to incite the crowd. Despite being a single, the song has not been performed live since 1992, though the song has been teased a few times since.
