This music plays over a tense comic sequence, as Reynolds (Daniel Day-Lewis) stews in silent anger during a party given by Barbara (Harriet Sansom Harris), a socialite and a difficult client of his who wears one of his sculpted ball gowns while getting very drunk and behaving in embarrassing fashion. The evening ends with Barbara passing out in her hotel room and Reynolds entering over the objections of her butler to remove the dress from her body and take it back to his shop.
