“Soldier of Love” was the lead single from Sade’s 2010 album Soldier of Love, the group’s first since Lovers Rock in 2000.
Released in December 2009, the military-themed rhythmic track about resilience in love expectedly shot to #1 on the Billboard Adult R&B charts. Its cinematic music video was directed by longtime collaborator Sophie Muller, with choreography by the legendary Fatima Robinson.
In February 2011, “Soldier of Love” won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.
