One of the better known Eccojams, “A1” begins the album with a familiar sample of “Africa” by Toto from the most-sampled year on the album, 1982.

Unlike some of the more straightforward tracks on Chuck Person’s record, the sample is distorted and played at several different speeds from different points in the sample. This song sets the stage well for the rest of the album, and is representative of the whole: it is an ‘80s song slowed down and repeated, albeit with many interesting edits.
