Hell Yeah (Remix)

Hell Yeah (Remix)

dead prez (Ft. JAY-Z)

On this remix track from 2004, dead prez’s revolutionary stance includes robbing pizza delivery guys and doing clumsy identity-theft scams. Meanwhile, Jay-Z has successfully infiltrated the suburbs and is selling drugs (pure raps!) directly to white kids, much to the disdain of their uppity parents. It is known to be one of his best and most honest guest verses.

During a bidding war in 2004 Hov and his Roc-A-Fella Records was one of the label’s vying to sign dead prez. M-1 explained in an interview that this was how the “Hell Yeah (Pimp the System)” remix came about:

We were meeting with Jay. And I was able to connect with him and go in the studio. We already had a record on Sony, but we were released and walked away with the record RBG: Revolutionary But Gangsta. So we were going around and playing people this record that never came out on Sony. Jay-Z heard a song, which he called “The Pizza Man Song.” We ended up recording his feature during the time we had left the record label.
