“Suu Whoop” is Compton rapper YG’s first single of 2018 and is from his third album Stay Dangerous. YG previewed the track on Instagram before dropping it on February 16th, 2018. The official music video dropped on March 13th, 2018.

‘Suu Whoop’ is a gang call often used by the Bloods which mimics the sound of a police car (“suu whoo-suu whoop”). YG has long been vocal about his affiliation to the Bloods, with this track continuing that legacy with references to the Bloods chosen colour red, slang used by the Bloods (like “brazy”) and gang rivalries with the crips.

YG also uses the track to call out ‘fake-bloods.’ One such person who is likely the target of these calls is controversial rapper Tekashi 69. This is supported by tweets and an Instagram video that YG released explicitly calling out and dissing the young New Yorker.
