The Beautiful People demo was originally intended for the movie “Big Eyes”. It was later re-worked and included on the tracklist of Lana’s 5th studio album, “Lust for Life”.

Unlike the album version, this demo has a really dark connotation. Through the whole lyrics, the listener can easily understand that the singer is singing about an abusive relationship. Moreover, the main theme of the song could be in sharp contrast with the one featured Stevie Nicks: it seems that Del Rey is reporting all those “beautiful people” who have just “beautiful problems”, and not – we can say – real problems, such as the ones that the artist is singing about.
