The Gloaming

A traditional dandling song arranged by The Gloaming into an ethereal track. (Dandling is bouncing a child on the knee or tossing them lightly into the air.)

The Gloaming’s vocalist, Iarla Ó Lionáird, has something of a family connection to this song. In 1951 ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax recorded traditional Irish singer Elizabeth Cronin. One of the snippets she sang was part of Cucanandy. Cronin was Ó Lionáird’s great aunt.
