Big L and JAY-Z stopped by the Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito show on February 23, 1995 and proceeded to drop a classic freestyle over the boom bap piano instrumental from Milkbone’s “Keep It Real.”

JAY-Z sat with Stretch and Bobbito years later and reacted to the freestyle:

‘I raise hell 'til it’s heaven…’ — pretty good verses. [Laughs] I didn’t realize that that was a thing until people kept bringing it up and talking about it, and I was like, ‘Yeah, the Big L thing,’ which I didn’t even realize was happening until years later, and we were in one of those moments that people would talk about in hip-hop lore. I was just happy about being, you know, on the radio.
