This song is the conclusion of the Hymnal trilogy. It was inspired by the fable “What Men Live By” by Leo Tolstoy. The song concludes that whether or not we believe in a higher purpose, the fact remains that we are here and we must live as authentically as we can in spite of the absurd nature of the world we find ourselves in.

“I have now understood that though it seems to men that they live by care for themselves, in truth it is love alone by which they live. He who has love, is in God, and God is in him, for God is love.”

When we consider this, we realise that God is just a construct to give order to the chaos but despite this, whether or not you believe in a god, the essential message for living remains intact.
