In an interview with Billboard, lead singer-songwriter Martin Johnson said of the song that it “was the first song written and the last one recorded for the album. I resisted this track at first, because I’m not huge on “inspiration anthems,” but kept coming back to it. I thought maybe it would be better suited for someone else. Then I figured, it’s my story – why not sing it?”
