Disappear (Remember When)

This song is dedicated to Tyler Carter’s late friend Rachel Reece, who had plans to form the best band since The Beatles with him. Tyler claims that Rachel was the best singer he has ever heard and will ever hear in his life.

The most beautiful, angelic person and vocalist I… I’ve ever known [that] I’ll ever know. Uhm, my best friend Rachel.

Rachel Reece died on October 8th, 2008 after being struck by a drunk driver in Lula, Georgia. On that day, Tyler received “the worst phone call of his life”:

That was it. My world sank. I was like “Fuck music. Fuck this. God, where are you? Why did you do this?”

This event put Tyler at his lowest point emotionally, he shared in his Rise Records Artist Profile. He wanted to quit, and he did. While Tyler was in the office at Auburn University, he received a phone call from Rise Records wanting to sign his (now former) band Woe, Is Me. He immediately left the school and went on to record his record. Six years later, he dedicates his whole life and career to Rachel with the motivation of making her proud because this is exactly what she would have wanted.
