“#Selfie” is a tongue-in-cheek, spoken-word dance-floor tune giving the peek into the night of a girl who likes selfies. With references to “Summertime Sadness” and Instagram, it’s likely to have a prominent fifteen minutes of fame.

The Oxford English Dictionary recently named “selfie” its 2013 Word of the Year, defined thus:

selfie noun, informal
(also selfy; plural selfies)

a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website

Oxford researchers even traced the first instance of the word to an Australian social media forum in 2002… how academic!
