Solidifying grandson’s reputation for politically-charged lyrics and refusal to back down from difficult subjects, “6:00” was released on a modern tragedy vol.1, grandson’s first EP.

The song contains multiple references to police brutality and corruption, specifically referencing recent highly-publicized civilian deaths at the hands of police. The song also references how these events are becoming so common, it’s all too common to just see people’s deaths on the evening news.

The official music video is about a corrupt white male cop, who utilizes his privilege specifically to target civilians. This includes sexually assaulting a young woman, framing a Black man for drug possession, beating a Black man after he is arrested, and pulling his firearm on a non-aggressive Black man he has pulled over. During the video, his Black colleague seems uncomfortable with his actions, and eventually confronts him. The video ends with a vigilante justice killing, done by the father of the young woman he assaulted and a friend of his.
