“Boys” was released as a single in June 2018 and later, in May 2019, as a bonus track on Cuz I Love You (Deluxe). To promote the single, four remixes were also commissioned.

Throughout the song, Lizzo states that she ‘doesn’t discriminate’ when it comes to men in her dating pool.
When asked about the meaning of the song, Lizzo commented:

From this black girl to the world, I want you to identify with my story no matter what you like in yo’ holes. I want people to feel free, I want people to have fun, I want these boys to know that you could be my next victim… if you play your cards right.”

The song was accompanied with a music video the same day of its release.
In the music video, Lizzo dances in front of the iconic music note wall where Prince commemorated in 1977.
