“Anxiety” is the intro to Michaels' second studio EP, Inner Monologue.

Michaels has always been vocal about her mental health problems, and even wrote a touching piece about anxiety for the magazine Glamour.

Michaels shared a demo of the song with Rolling Stone, who described it as a “campfire strum supported by a heartbeat bassline”.

In the song, produced by longtime collaborator and Grammy winner producer Ian Kirkpatrick, Michaels sings her personal experience on living with anxiety, her sleepless nights, hearing from exes and refusing her doctor’s advice to take medicine.
