The lyrics in “Prime” are rich with imagery, exploring a youthful, fast-paced lifestyle set to a hard-hitting electro beat.

Allie stated that the song is mainly about how she thinks about her body and appearance, but also how the song reflects upon youth being “the time when we all inherently believe that we are indestructible and are blissfully ignorant of the vulnerability of our fragile minds and bodies.”

In an interview with Bullet Media, Allie furthermore explained:

I wrote ‘Prime’ about being a young person—being self-destructive. It’s an ode to that time in your life when you know that what you’re doing is going to kick you in the ass one day, but you’re still doing it […] you’re also laughing about the fact that you’re doing it. Underneath it all, there’s still that sort of foreboding feeling of knowing that one day it’s not going to be like this anymore— the scariness of all that.
