Calling the original version of this track “a pile of garbage” after working on it for a year, Granduciel decided to scrap it and give it a complete rework just five days before the finished record had to be turned in to the label, saying:

Everyone thought I was crazy for wanting to rerecord, but it ended up being one of a lot of people’s favorites.
