“Fire” is a cover of a song, of the same name, recorded by the Jimi Hendrix Experience in early 1967. The version released by the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1989 featured Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Hillel Slovak, and Cliff Martinez.

The band originally learned how to cover the song back in 1983 upon guitarist Hillel Slovak’s request, after they had been offered to headline at a local strip club called the Kit Kat Club. That was also the first show that the Chili Peppers had gone on stage, and performed their signature move of wearing nothing but tube socks on their genitals
