Borrowed Time

Borrowed Time

Michl

Borrowed Time sees Michl pondering the nature of our existence: is the future pre-determined (fate) or does it change with every decision we make? The phrase “borrowed time” is typically used to describe a situation in which someone lives past a point where they expected to die, and are likely to die in the future (i.e. “living on borrowed time). Michl repurposes the phrase here to mean living a life that has already been "written”. If everything is pre-determined (destiny, fate), then we are all living on borrowed time.
