Brink!

Brink!

Yeat

On “Brink!,” Yeat parades his love for drugs, diamonds, and women. Similar to Yeat’s other songs, “Brink!” features his signature style with fluctuating melodies and incoherent lyrics.

“Brink!” is Yeat’s debut single under his current stage name, retiring his former name, “Lil Yeat.” The song was previewed on ELEVATOR, jumpstarting Yeat’s career as a rapper. “Brink!” was later featured on Yeat’s debut mixtape, Deep Blue Strips in September of that year.

The song shows a marked difference to his later work, with Volksgeist comparing his early music to the music Yeat produces today in his video, “Why Everyone Loves YEAT”:

One of the things about Yeat’s early music is that it sounded like nothing what he makes today because the music he’s making now […] just didn’t exist back in 2018.

“Brink!” would be one of many tracks that kick-started his career, but it wasn’t until “Sorry Bout That” blew up in popularity online that Yeat would start to get traction from social media platforms such as TikTok.
