The opening title track of Dream Theater’s 1995 EP of the same name. Written by then-drummer Mike Portnoy, “A Change Of Seasons” is a 23-minute epic with multiple sections that explores the cycle of life, using Portnoy’s real-life experiences as inspiration.

This is the first officially released recording the band made with Derek Sherinian on the keyboards, replacing Kevin Moore (who left after the recording of Awake the previous year). It is also the very first song that Mike Portnoy wrote lyrics to, having been worked on since before the release of The Mirror.
