“Body” is a steady-tempo rock song in which Jacklin tells a story of a previous lover whose actions became unhealthy for Jacklin’s life. While recounting details of the events, Jacklin portrays an underlying themes of body confidence and feeling troubled by being body shamed.

The gorgeous instrumentation on the track builds from a steady drumbeat, bass melody, and swelling guitar that complement Jacklin’s elegant vocals. After the first verse, piano enters the track to complete the song’s sound of pure controlled-energy.

Jacklin explains the song’s meaning in an NPR interview:

The song speaks for itself, but I’d say it’s just a very long and exaggerated sigh […] Born from feelings of powerlessness when it comes to the impossible task of representing yourself the way you think is right, personally and professionally; when you feel like everything is for the taking, no matter what you do.

In an interview with opbmusic Jacklin confirmed the song was based on a true story saying,

It happened, in a way. It definitely did not come from my imagination, unfortunately."

“Body” is the album’s first single and was pre-released prior Crushing’s full release.
