“Forever Rain” is the final track off of Kim Namjoon’s (from BTS) new mixtape, mono.

The definition of “mono” means “alone” and “single” and is the short of “monolithic”, meaning “without interesting differences, unable to be changed”. And that’s what “Forever Rain” is about: the sentiment of being an outcast.

The music video is visually in black and white to capture a theme of loneliness. Rains are known to accompany a introspective and dejected state of mind, and it can also be seen as a cleansing agent that purifies the atmosphere after some disaster.

Namjoon sees the pouring rain as one of his friends, as if the raindrops were always concerned about how he’s feeling. It is possible to notice the deep lyrics consisting of lonesomeness emotions when the first verse is sang, expressing how the rain could stay pouring forever so his tears wouldn’t get noticeable as they appear to be when the Sun shines.
